Common Sense Is Not That Common Anymore - a Guide To My Daughter

My daughter is 5 now and too young to understand some of the content here, but this will continue to evolve as I add more information and hope to one day turn it into a book for her to cherish after I am gone.

I decided to write this because I have been seeing a deterioration of our values and just some plain simple everyday common sense.

Work place

I once got into an elevator with a young lady going to work at a corporate office where she is in contact with customers on a regular basis. She had on a purple dress and low heal shoes.

Problem: The dress was noticeably wrinkled and the shoes' heels were worn out.

  • Regardless if you are in a corporate setting or not, your appearance is very important when dealing with the public and if nothing else, it says a great deal about your personal grooming.
When going on an interview or while at the work place, always be presentable in a business environment. It is also a good idea to practice good oral hygiene, such as brushing your teeth after eating, so you are not greeting customers with broccoli in your smile, have your nails clean and please make sure your nail polish is not chipping!

  • Customer service these days leaves a lot to be desired. If you deal with customers, common courtesy is expected. It drives me crazy when I call a company and the rep is rude or at a retail store, when the rep fails to greet me when is my turn to check out...
  • If you are on a personal call and a customer approaches you, GET OFF THE PHONE right away. Do not allow yourself to ask a customer to wait while you are on the phone with your friends. If it is a call you must make, either excuse yourself or make it as brief as possible but never in front of a customer!
If you are on the phones dealing with customers, greet them with a smile and please do not speak with your mouth full. If you need to place them on hold, be sure to come back to the phone after a couple of minutes or so, to let them know you appreciate them holding and that you are still looking into whatever you are trying to help them with. If you need to call them back, do so in a timely manner and always ask if you caught them at a good time, it shows you respect their time.

When leaving a message start with your name and slowly leave your call back number at the beginning and at the end of the message. Keep it brief and do not discuss the subject in detail. Always wait to speak to the person.

  • When emailing try to avoid all caps and use the proper courteous approach, such as avoiding slang and inappropriately addressing your client when starting your email. Try using: "Greetings Mr./Mrs. so and so"  but not: "Hey so and so". Always end with an appreciation for their business.
  • Allow your customer to speak and express his/her concerns. Do not interrupt.
  • In a presentation shared with a co-worker, never discredit them in front of a client and never interrupt while it is their turn to speak. If something is incorrect or missing, pull them to the side away from your client and discuss it discreetly.
  • Be punctual and put your communication devices on vibrate or mute when in a meeting.
  • If running late, call and let the person waiting for you know when you expect to arrive. Do not leave them wondering...
  • Don't have time to eat? Keep a natural health bar or a [1] natural nutritional drink, such as "Zeal For Life", handy so you can stay alert and well-nourished to perform a job well done!

My mother always taught me when invited to someone's house, never walk in empty handed. Bring something as a gift. It does not have to be anything fancy or expensive. It could be flowers, a loaf of your favorite bread or something you already know that person likes. Be sensitive to them. If you know they have allergies, perhaps flowers might not be a good gift. Bringing something shows appreciation for being invited to their home.

  • Please do not gossip.
  • When shopping, please do not leave your shopping cart in the middle of the aisle...
  • Do not impose your faith/religious views on others. Let your actions speak louder than your words.
Personal Matters

  • Get to know a young man's parents and spend time with him for at least 6 months before you claim him as a boyfriend and NEVER ignore the signs and red flags presented to you. Usually these are the very thing you will not be able to live with.
  • Especially when in public, mind how you speak and how you carry yourself as a lady.
  • If your boyfriend or someone you call a friend wants you to behave in a way that makes you uncomfortable maybe you need to reconsider your association.
  • Always be mindful of the elderly and handicap. Open the door for them,  give up your seat in public transportation and offer to help when you see the need. When driving, be courteous to pedestrians.
  • When you receive a gift, a handwritten thank you card will be greatly appreciated, if not, a "Thank-you" will do! (That goes with the basics: "Please" and "Excuse me")
  • If you borrow money from someone, even if a dime, be sure to pay it back as soon as possible. If you cannot, be sure to let the person know you have not forgotten to pay them back. Your word is your honor.
  • Speak and think positive and empowering words. Your mind is very powerful and your words are very powerful.
  • Please do not drench yourself in perfume...
"Honor your father and mother: that thy days may be long..." Exodus 20:12

This is what I can think of for now, but will add more to this as it comes to me.

Do you have a suggestion? Post it below for consideration and we will make it part of this project!

Did You Know Your Tires Have a Shelf Life?

There was a time I believed companies were selling me safe products. There was a time I would say: "No! They would never deliberately harm a consumer!"

I did not know tires had a shelf life, but what does not surprise me is that reputable companies such as Sears and Goodyear knowingly sell unsafe aged tires and advertise them as "brand new".

A tire which is 6 years old and older starts drying out and becomes dangerous. The threads can come apart and at high speeds can be a deadly situation.

How to identify a tire's age? The last 3 or four numbers at the end of a series of letters and numbers, placed on tires as a requirement by the Department of Transportation, determine the age.

For example: 124 means this tire was manufactured on the 12th week of 1994.
3404 means this tire was manufactured on the 34th week of 2004

Even if a tire has never been used, if older that 6 years, it is not safe!
So next time you are ready to purchase new tires, you can be sure they are indeed new. See link below for a report on this serious issue.

As you can see from this report, they dare to ignore lives and are getting away with it!

Please share this information with everyone you know! This is a little known fact everyone should know about.

Dr. Sebi's Electric Cell Food - Herbal Cleanse Diet - What to eat

This is part two of the "Dr. Sebi's Cell Food - Herbal Cleanse" article.

Of course, diet is key and here are some suggestions to assist you in your cleanse and your efforts to change your diet.

First and foremost, avoid using a microwave. It kills important enzymes. When not on a cleanse, I take digestive enzymes, probiotics, Dr. Sebi's Maya and Seamoss daily for maintenance. You can purchase probiotics we recommend at

Stay away from dairy, [1] eggs, soy, [2] and if you are going to eat meat, buy certified organic if possible. Read my article "So, Organic is not really Organic ?!"

Drink a lot of water. Dr. Sebi suggests one gallon a day. I drink as much as I can. It helps if you carry a water bottle. It helps you remember to drink. I personally do not drink Dasani, I have a habit of reading labels for *everything*. A great habit! Dasani is made by Coca-Cola, and it has questionable additives. Pepsi owns Aqua Fina. Anyway, before I get off track, just get in the habit of reading labels.

What I suggest you eat, always certified organic if all possible:

Eliminate white rice or brown rice and cook with Quinoa. You cook it as you would rice and it contains high protein and calcium.

Garbanzo Beans, also known as chick peas are used to make Hummus and is delicious. Grilled Portabella mushrooms help me fill in the void, when you feel like eating meat.

Amaranth is great for baking and is high in Calcium. You can cook it as you would Oatmeal, but it takes too long in my opinion. Stay away from Oats. It is very starchy and can be allergenic.

My family eats avocado on a regular basis. Guacamole is delicious and nutritious! Read my article on "Tips from a new mom Part II (11 months later)".

I love Bell Peppers, which I grill with Chayote, Portabella mushrooms, Okra, Yellow onions, (avoid red ones), Mexican squash (Calabasita), and Zucchini.

Cut up finely the following and make a raw salad. It is delicious with Quinoa:

Mustard Greens

Cherry tomato (no other)

Season it with extra virgin olive oil, sea salt (no other) and perhaps cayenne pepper.

If you like Cilantro (assists with heavy metal cleanse, chelation), that is delicious as well and basil leaves are very good and helps in production of milk in lactating mothers.

Other seasonings:

Bay Leaf

As far as fruits, make sure they are seeded and NEVER seedless:

Chiquita Bananas - smallest size

Berries but no cranberries

Concord Grapes or seeded grapes in general

Monukka Raisins or seeded organic raisins

Soft Jelly Coconut

To sweeten your teas use:

100% Grade B Maple syrup

Date sugar

100% Agave Nectar
- What I use. It has low glycemic index and great for individuals cleansing to eliminate Diabetes.

Herbal Teas:

Lemon Grass

Nuts: Raw Almonds and Almond butter

I love home made almond milk. It is great for smoothies.

Although I do not agree with some of Dr. Sebi's spiritual and philosophical views, I do not deny his knowledge of herbs.

I would not deviate from this diet and you will see tremendous change in your vitality and clarity of mind. This is an excellent diet if you are looking to recover from Yeast Infections due to Candida Albicans, except that I do not suggest eating nuts or beans at all, and do take the probiotics available at DaughterNature. I had systemic yeast infections for 18 years and these probiotics worked within one week!

Thank you for sharing this with family and friends and for visiting our Family Forum!

Thanks for letting us know if you have any questions!

An effective and safer Alternative to Mammograms

Some of us ladies have never had a mammogram. Either because we have never gotten around to getting it done, or because we feel the radiation is unsafe or because we know there are effective alternatives to mammograms' high radiation.

Have you heard of Thermography?

According to an article from, Thermography uses no mechanical pressure or ionizing radiation, and can detect signs of breast cancer years earlier than either mammography or a physical exam.

Mammography cannot detect a tumor until after it has been growing for years and reaches a certain size. Thermography is able to detect the possibility of breast cancer much earlier, because it can image the early stages of angiogenesis (the formation of a direct supply of blood to cancer cells, which is a necessary step before they can grow into tumors of size).

Dr. Samuel Epstein, professor emeritus of Environmental and Occupational Medicine at the University of Illinois School of Public Health, and chairman of the Cancer Prevention Coalition, has been speaking out about the risks of mammography since at least 1992.

He says screening mammography poses significant and cumulative risks of radiation, particularly for premenopausal women, of which women remain uninformed. The routine practice of taking four films of each breast annually results in approximately 1 rad (radiation absorbed dose) exposure.

This is about 1,000 times greater than exposure from a chest x-ray which is broadly focused on the entire chest rather than narrowly on the breast. The premenopausal breast is highly sensitive to radiation, each 1 rad exposure increasing breast cancer risk by about 1 percent, with a cumulative 10 percent increased risk for each breast over a decade's screening.

The following was taken from the International Academy of Clinical Thermography's website:

"Breast thermography is a diagnostic procedure that images the breasts to aid in the early detection of breast cancer.

The procedure is based on the principle that chemical and blood vessel activity in both pre-cancerous tissue and the area surrounding a developing breast cancer is almost always higher than in the normal breast. Since pre-cancerous and cancerous masses are highly metabolic tissues, they need an abundant supply of nutrients to maintain their growth. In order to do this they increase circulation to their cells by sending out chemicals to keep existing blood vessels open, recruit dormant vessels, and create new ones (neoangiogenesis). This process results in an increase in regional surface temperatures of the breast.

State-of-the-art breast thermography uses ultra-sensitive infrared cameras and sophisticated computers to detect, analyze, and produce high-resolution diagnostic images of these temperature and vascular changes.

The procedure is both comfortable and safe using no radiation or compression. By carefully examining changes in the temperature and blood vessels of the breasts, signs of possible cancer or pre-cancerous cell growth may be detected up to 10 years prior to being discovered using any other procedure. This provides for the earliest detection of cancer possible. Because of breast thermography's extreme sensitivity, these temperature variations and vascular changes may be among the earliest signs of breast cancer and/or a pre-cancerous state of the breast.(3,6,7,8,9)

Breast thermography has been researched for over 30 years...

A physiological imaging procedure (thermography) cannot replace an anatomical imaging procedure (mammography). The two tests are "looking" for completely different pathological processes.

  • Thermography is far more sensitive than mammography. However, some slow growing non-aggressive cancers will only be detected by mammography. "

Numerous research projects in the U.S. and Europe indicate chlorella can aid the body in breaking down persistent hydrocarbon and metallic toxins such as mercury, cadmium and lead, DDT and PCB while strengthening the immune system response. In Japan, interest in chlorella has focused largely on its detoxifying properties and its ability to remove or neutralize poisonous substances from the body.

Gotu Kola

One of the many benefits of Gotu Kola is its effectiveness in treating skin conditions. It contains substances and properties that work on the general strengthening and toning effect on connective tissue. When combined with diet, exercise and massages, it can contribute to cellulite reduction.

Milligram for milligram, EGCG has 25 to 100 times the antioxidant power of vitamins C and E. A cup of green tea has more antioxidants than a serving of broccoli, spinach, carrots or strawberries. Green tea has been shown to lower “bad” LDL cholesterol and serum triglyceride levels.

Bacopa Extract (Adaptogen)

Bacopa extract is used to improve memory and learning problems, as well as concentration, which has led to its use as a natural solution for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
